A most enjoyable evening was spent at The Odeon launch on Thursday evening. The management invited a wide variety of local people from businesses and community organisations, as well as Bromley councillors. A continuous stream of 'nibbles' processed through the throng - free drinks and food was lavishly on offer. There were more calorific 'goodies' on all the seats when we trooped off to watch our chosen movies. The choice of films was 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' or 'Sing Street' (a low budget Irish movie - described as 'like the Commitments'). I opted for Star Wars - in very realistic 3D - and spent a nostalgic two and a quarter hours feeling as if I was in the movie itself, as space ships and characters appeared to be close enough to touch. C3PO and dear little R2D2 both appeared, as well as the Millennium Falcon, along with aged stars from the first movie in the series! It was all good fun with the expected outcome of good over evil.
Congratulations to the Odeon management - we've waited over 30 years for a new cinema and at last it's here!
